Why torrent through a VPN at all

BitTorrent is peer-to-peer, which means every other peer in a swarm can see the IP address you are downloading from. Without a VPN that address is your home connection, tied to your name and visible to anyone else on the torrent, including monitoring outfits.

A VPN puts a server's IP in the swarm instead of yours. Peers see the ROOT exit, your provider sees only an encrypted tunnel, and your real address stays out of the picture. That is the baseline privacy every torrent user should have.

P2P on every server, not a short list

Plenty of providers wall P2P off to a handful of servers, then route everyone through them so they crawl. ROOT does not. Peer-to-peer traffic is allowed on every server in the network, with no port blocking and no throttling aimed at torrents.

In practice that means you connect to whatever country suits you and start your download. There is no separate P2P server list to hunt through and no penalty for using it. The same fast WireGuard exits that carry your browsing carry your torrents.

Torrent safely: the kill-switch matters

The one thing that can expose you is a tunnel that drops mid-download while your torrent client keeps running. For a few seconds your real IP leaks into the swarm. A kill-switch prevents that by blocking all traffic the instant the VPN disconnects, so nothing reaches the internet outside the tunnel.

Keep the kill switch on for long downloads. In the Windows app it is on by default. Pair it with ROOT's no-activity-logs policy and your torrenting stays your business: peers see a shared VPN IP, your provider sees an encrypted tunnel, and ROOT keeps no record of the sites you visit or what you do there.
