How Free stays free
The free plan is designed around members who choose to share a little idle bandwidth. Sharing is off by default. If you opt in, it unlocks Premium while it is on. It is never paid in cash.
Shared traffic routes through ROOT's servers first, where it is encrypted and filtered. Paid plans never share.
Set conditions: only on Wi-Fi, only while charging, only when idle, and a monthly sharing limit of 250 MB, 1 GB, 5 GB or 10 GB.
You see the sharing terms and an unticked consent checkbox before turning it on.
Good questions
Is Free really free?
Yes. Unlimited data, no card, no trial countdown. Free connects one device to the fastest automatic location. Sharing is optional and off by default.
What do I get for sharing?
Premium, including every location, while sharing is on. Sharing is never paid in cash. Shared traffic routes through ROOT's servers first, where it is encrypted and filtered.
Can I cancel a paid plan?
Yes, cancel anytime. Cancelling stops future renewals, and you keep your paid plan until the end of the period you have already paid for. The details are in our Terms.
Do paid plans share bandwidth?
No. Plus, Pro and Enterprise never share your bandwidth.
How does yearly billing work?
Plus is £39.99 a year and Pro is £89.99 a year, billed once a year. Both give you 2 months free compared with monthly billing.
