ROOT VPN on Chrome

The ROOT extension for Chrome is a lightweight way to route just your browser through a secure proxy, so you can switch country or unblock a site in one click without changing your whole system connection. It is coming soon.

A browser extension protects only what happens in Chrome, not other apps, so for full-device protection use the ROOT desktop app instead. The two work well together: the app for everything, the extension for quick browser switches.

How to set up on Chrome

VPN for Chrome: common questions

Is the Chrome extension out yet?

It is coming soon. In the meantime, the ROOT desktop app protects Chrome along with everything else on your computer, so you are covered today.

Does the extension protect my whole computer?

No. A browser extension only routes Chrome's traffic. For full-device protection, including other apps, use the ROOT desktop app, which you can run alongside the extension.

What is the difference between the extension and the app?

The extension is a quick, browser-only proxy for switching country in Chrome. The app protects your entire system with all four protocols, a kill-switch and split tunnelling.
